My notes from this video
After the melody, Illuszion goes into a build up. What he likes to do here is remove the lows. He automates Fruity Parametric EQ 2 on the melody and puts Endless Smile on it too. This makes it always sound so good instantly.
Then he adds his own delay and reverb that goes into the build up. He brings back that little melody later for the pre-drop.

For the fake drop, Illuszion picks a kick that's deep but not too hard. You don't want your hardest kick played in the pre-drop. You want something that's nice, but where you're kind of expecting it to be a pre-drop. That's the feel you're creating here.
Then Illuszion makes his own kick in the Kick Builder. He starts with a punch, finds a cool crunch, then adds punch enhancers and tail enhancers. Drag and drop, and you can make so many different kicks.
For the last kick he opens one of the On Point Samples templates, so you can actually see how one of these kicks is made. The nice thing is that you can make it completely your own and change anything about it. He swaps the tail for a crunch, picks a different tail enhancer and exports the kick.
