My notes from this video
I start in 3x Osc with the volumes down, so there's only one sine wave. That means no overtones. That's why the first stage is an EQ to boost the sub and a wave shaper. Nothing extreme though. Then add another stage with EQ and distortion, and use the overtones that have been created by boosting the mids.
On the third stage I use Distructor. Make it empty, add a distortion and use the Harmor Cube distortion. Take down the pre amp, move the asymmetry knob and add some pre amp. With the EQ in front you can really shape the kick. Then keep adding these chains. My final stage is always an EQ and a soft clipper, to clean up the low mids and add some highs.

I had the pitch range on 12 semitones. Take it to 24 instead, an octave higher. Now the kick has the punch that was missing.
Also notice what the volume does. Combine it with a low pass in front of the distortions and automate it so it goes down during the kick. The pitch, the volume and the low pass make a huge difference for your kick.

Once the chain is done, go back into any of the stages, change the EQs and see what happens. A lot of people focus on the mids, but you get a lot of different kicks if you actually take away frequencies.
