My notes from this video
I make a standard FM screech in Serum. I immediately know I want to control the FM, because that way I can really accentuate the screech at certain parts. Then I add a lot of distortion. The kick is in E, so I make the screech in E as well.
Then I just play it and simultaneously record it. I load the recording into my sampler, play it and choose a few parts that are really cool. Those are the parts I post-process.
For the post-processing I take two signals. One is a dry one. The other one is a wet one, with iZotope Trash 2 for a really weird effect, then EQ and Stereo Shaper. I don't want bass in this wet result and I want it to be stereo. Then I reduce the volume a bit, so it's accompanying the original sound.
I do the same dry and wet signal again on the vocal. People should really start using Patcher more, because it's super dope.

I think we need to get some ear candy in here. Look up bass glitches on Splice. You can put stuff like this in front of your screech. I make a volume automation of it so it doesn't play all the time, and you can really accentuate that the screech is coming up. I remove some bass and make it stereo, and it just fills it up a little bit more.
I'm also looking for organic sounds to accentuate the screech. A lot of this is not taking the sample and just putting it in your mixer. It's accompanying everything you've already put in there.
Then I add some reverse reverb on the screech. There are multiple ways to do reverse reverb, but I take ValhallaRoom and the mix goes from zero percent up to where the screech opens up. It's a small trick. I record that sound, because I want to use it in the song.
It accentuates the screech a little bit more, because it draws people into the tune. Otherwise these screeches will be random.

I open up a bus and call it build up, because I don't want to put build effects on the full bus. Imagine you have other vocals in your build up. You don't want reverb on all of these. So create a different bus where you put the snares and the leads that go up.
On that bus I add Endless Smile, because it always works. It gives this effect where it just washes out. I remove the bass, and everything gets mono at the end. It's a really easy way to get a lot going on in your build up with just a few sounds. You just add a lot of automation clips.
