Three Tricks to Improve Your Hardstyle Break Layers

Three methods to spice up your hardstyle break layer.

My notes from this Short

01

Pitch bend automation on the layer

The first method comes down to pitch bend automation. I open the plugin, move the knob and make sure it's the same pitch bend range. Then last tweaked, link to controller, and add it to the automation clip.

02

A quick delay send that ducks

People tend to forget that a delay send is very important. If you add a delay send, make it duck, sidechained to the total lead layer, and make it really quick, wide and a little bit low passed.

And then also add the reverb send.

03

A pitch envelope on every lead

The third method comes down to adding a pitch envelope. You can make it start low and end at the normal pitch, or start high and end at the normal pitch.

If you add this effect to every one of your leads, the whole break will sound a little bit more interesting.
