Quick tip

How to Make a Detuned Hardstyle Lead in Vital

Here's a quick tip for making really powerful leads in Vital, like this one.

My notes from this Short

01

Three oscillators about 60% detuned

I open Vital, take down the release, put it on one voice and legato and make it glide. Then I open three oscillators and make all of them a little bit detuned, like 60%.

I give them three voices, eight voices and 16, and make one go up.

Vital oscillators for a detuned hardstyle lead: three oscillators with 16, 8 and 4 unison voices and the detune at 63%, 52% and 32%

02

A fast random LFO on voice transpose

In the matrix I take randomization, put it on seconds and take it down to a very fast rate. I add it to global voice transpose, source random one, on bipolar.

You can now control the detune as well with this.

03

A narrow chorus and multiband compression

Add more voices if you want to, and even add some chorus. Just make sure that it's not really wide, so I take down the mix and hit the highs.

If you want to really crank it, add a compressor on multiband, then some processing.
