How to Make a 90s Rave Chord in Spire

I have a basic chord melody loaded up, and here's how you make that 90s rave chord sound in Spire.

My notes from this Short

01

Phase above 30 for the analog sound

First I change oscillator 1 to 9 voices and open the wide. Then I immediately change the phase to higher than 30.

Between 0 and 30 it's going to free run the phase. If you put it over, it retriggers at the exact same point. That immediately gives us that analog sound.

02

AM sync on a third oscillator

I layer this with a simple second oscillator, and add a third oscillator on AM sync with control B down a bit. I add some voices there with widening and some detune.

In oscillator 1 I also increase the density so it's more of a supersaw. Play around with this knob, because it gives you different group voicings.

03

Chorus, X compression and a sine on the pitch

It can't go without a chorus, so I open that up. Then some X compression, and I roll off a little bit of the lows and boost the mids a bit to add more grit.

Finally I open the all oscillator pitch, change it to a sine wave, open the rate and take the amplitude down. Then some basic reverb and delay.
