How to Make a Golden Era Hardstyle Screech in Sylenth1

A golden era hardstyle screech only needs Sylenth1. Here's how I make it.

My notes from this Short

01

Three voices with the width down

I go an octave higher, add three voices, open the detune a lot and take down the width. This is important later, when I play around with the detune and the width to get the screech that sounds good.

Sylenth1 oscillator A1 for a golden era hardstyle screech: octave +1, 3 voices, the detune turned up and the stereo width at 6.954, with the distortion on OverDrive
An octave up, three voices, a lot of detune and the width down.
02

A fast pitch LFO and a pitch attack

In LFO 1 I add pitch AB, open the gain, add a lot of rate on free in hertz and open the amount a bit.

Then I add pitch AB on envelope 1, open the decay a bit and take down the amount. Now decrease the sustain all the way, and we get a pitch attack.

03

Overdrive pushed by the mix of A

I put the distortion on overdrive and add even more drive by opening the mix of A. Then I go back to LFO 1 to tweak it a bit and play around with the detune amount.

I compress it to make it more snappy, with the threshold down just a little bit, and add a delay on ping pong, 1/4 and 1/2 dotted. I open the width, open the low cut and high cut, and take the mix down.
