How to Make Rawstyle Screeches in Spire

You can make very powerful rawstyle screeches in Spire and create a lot of different variations. Here's how I do it.

My notes from this Short

01

Supersaw into the band shaper

First I increase the voices to 9, add detune and open the density to a supersaw. I add some width so there's stereo, and I'm immediately opening the shaper.

I put the shaper on band, so it distorts anything between the low and high cut, and I add drive.

02

Band pass and a pitch envelope

I change the filter to a band pass 4 and disable the cutoff envelope that's loaded up by default, so I focus on the mids. On envelope 2 I assign oscillator pitch and open that up.

Then I open the decay, take down the sustain and add the attack. This is how fast it pitches up, how high it pitches up and where it lands when it goes down. After that I add the X-Comp and roll off the lows.

03

Density and waveform for variations

Now I can change the tone a lot by playing with the density, which changes the group voicing of the detune. I can also change the waveform and open the mix.

Combining all the waveforms with the detune and density gives you a ton of different rawstyle screeches. I finish it with some basic delay.
