How to Match Your Hardstyle Kick Sub to a Reference Track

A trick to always get a clean sub for your hardstyle kick, starting from a song you really like.

My notes from this Short

01

The sub of a kick you like as the reference

First I download a song that I really like. I take the kick in the drop and cut it until I just have the sub.

Then I open Serum, cut it the same way, and open the distortion fully on Soft Clip, so I get a little bit more power out of Serum.

02

Write in harmonics until the spectrums match

I play both at the same time and detach my equalizer, so I can see the spectrums. Then in Serum I write in harmonics and tweak them until I find the same spectrum as the sub of that song.

You can see that if I add this harmonic here, it totally ruins the similarities. You can make your kick really powerful if the sub is powerful.
