Serum FX between the EQ and the distortion
First I take any sample, route it through my mixer, add an EQ and really boost one frequency. Then I add distortion, and in between the EQ and the distortion I put Serum FX.

Flanges and misc filters with the resonance cranked
In Serum FX you can add more distortion if needed, but I add the filter and go through any of the flanges or misc filters. Then I crank up the resonance and drive and play with the cutoff.
Obviously you need more to make this punch better, such as layering and mixing it better. But this is a very nice place to start and get some inspiration for your punches.
