How to Make Resonant Rawstyle Kick Punches in Serum

Here's a trick in Serum to make punches for rawstyle kicks like Rebelion.

My notes from this Short

01

Analog BD Sin with an envelope on the pitch

I select the Analog BD Sin wavetable. LFO 1 is going to be an envelope, and I add it to the coarse pitch at around 29. Then I take down the phase randomization.

02

Flanger low pass with the drive all the way up

In the filter I select the flanger low pass, add resonance, put the drive all the way up and select this midrange. Then I add distortion on Diode around this range, and a multiband compressor.

03

LFO 2 in the shape of a punch

Finally I take LFO 2, make sure that it resembles the shape of a punch and add it to the level. Tweak it however you like, but now you get these very nice resonant mid-frequency bouncy punches.
