How to Make a Raw Hardstyle Lead in Vital

It's super easy to make a very raw and powerful lead like this in Vital, and I'll show you how.

My notes from this Short

01

Envelope 2 takes the transpose up an octave

I open Vital: release goes down, one voice, legato and glide, so it's mono. Oscillator 1 and oscillator 2 both get a lot of detune.

I put envelope 2 on an attack. Then in the matrix, envelope 2 goes to the global voice transposition, and I make it go up an octave.

02

Band pass into a 12 dB filter

Filter 1 is on band pass with resonance and 24 dB in the highs, and filter 2 on 12 dB with resonance in the highs as well. Oscillator 1 and 2 go in filter 1, and filter 2 takes filter 1.

LFO 1 is on sync mode and I put it on seconds, so it's moving slowly. I add that to the cutoff range in the highs on both filters.

03

A third oscillator outside the filters

I add another oscillator on top, which is going to be slightly detuned, but it's not going through the filters. Finally I add a distortion on hard clip.

Vital oscillators for a raw hardstyle lead: oscillators 1 and 2 go to filter 1 with 10 and 12 unison voices at 39% and 92% detune, oscillator 3 goes to the effects with 4 voices at 7%
Oscillator 3 skips the filters and goes to the effects, with only 7% detune.
