How to Make a Rawstyle Screech in Serum with One Macro

A really cool rawstyle screech in Serum, and you can make it without moving a lot of knobs.

My notes from this Short

01

A muted oscillator B for the FM

I open oscillator B and take down the level, then add FM from B. We're going to use this later.

02

LFO 1 on a band 24 cutoff

LFO 1 goes on envelope. Open the filter on normal, band 24, add resonance and add LFO 1 to the cutoff.

Then in the distortion I add Zero Square at 100%.

03

One macro for the tone of the screech

I add a macro to the FM as well as the cutoff. Now you can change the tone of the screech by moving the macro.

You can also play around with the octaves of oscillator A and B to get different sounds. Just find the sweet spot.
